The Velvet Assistance Fund

The Velvet Assistance Fund was established to help people pay their pets’ medical bills, as long as they qualify. Clients who are denied help from Care Credit, a national financing company, are eligible to apply for financial help through our fund. We use the national poverty threshold as one of the parameters for determining eligibility, and how much money clients can get. The maximum allocation per client ranges from 25% to 100% of the total bill, up to a certain amount. The Velvet Assistance Fund is 100% donor–supported.

DoveLewis received a generous gift from a long–time donor to our assistance fund. To honor this individual, DoveLewis offered to name the fund after one of his family’s animals. The donor instead asked that the fund be named after Velvet, the Mt. Hood dog. CLICK HERE for more information about Velvet. We are honored to immortalize Velvet’s bravery, as well as our donor’s generosity. The Velvet Assistance Fund will help many DoveLewis clients through one of their toughest experiences, just as Velvet helped her fellow climbers through one of theirs.
