Rioli’s Journey and Our New Path: Expanding to Serve More Pets in Need

Rioli was diagnosed with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP), a serious condition where her immune system mistakenly attacked her own platelets, leading to significant bleeding and anemia. Despite the severity of her condition, she was always ready to greet our team with a wagging tail.

Her treatment at DoveLewis was intensive and involved multiple approaches. Our team administered blood transfusions and plasma therapy, alongside medications like prednisone to suppress her immune response to stop her body from destroying its platelets, gabapentin for pain relief, and maropitant to ease her nausea. Our superhero blood donors, Falla and Schroeder, provided the life-saving blood and plasma Rioli needed to combat her anemia and low platelet count.

Day by day, we watched Rioli's condition improve. Her platelet count began to stabilize, the bleeding lessened, and her vibrant personality started to shine through once more. The progress was slow but steady, and every small victory was celebrated by our team!

Rioli is now back at home, enjoying the love and comfort of her family. Her journey continues with regular visits to the DoveLewis Internal Medicine team, where we ensure she’s as healthy and happy as possible in the days ahead.

Stories like Rioli’s inspire our commitment to exceptional care. Our upcoming expansion, set to open just across the street from our current location, will allow us to build on our existing services and introduce new ones. This growth will enable us to support even more animals in need, just like Rioli. We’re dedicated to enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive care for every pet, and we’re excited about the future as we continue to grow and serve our community.
