A Residency Program That Focuses on Your Growth
Comprehensive Skill Development
Develop advanced skills in patient care, diagnostics, and case management while enhancing your leadership and teamwork abilities, preparing you for board certification and a successful career in emergency and critical care.
Primary Case Management
Take on direct responsibility for a variety of emergency and critical cases while receiving close mentorship from specialists and experienced ER doctors. You'll gain essential skills through rotations through the ER and ICU and our range of specialty services, as dictated by ACVECC standards.
Didactic Rounds
Two or more hours per week are dedicated to focused learning on topics like general physiology/pathophysiology seminar, morbidity and mortality rounds, journal club, and boards preparation.
Mentorship & Guidance
Receive comprehensive guidance and support throughout your program with 1:1 mentorship from board-certified Criticalists. You’ll also have access to a diverse range of specialties and robust technical support, including assistance from VTS-certified technicians, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge needed.
Well-Being Support
You'll have access to our Veterinary Well-being Program, which includes a monthly support group that focuses on your emotional well-being. Residents also receive quarterly reviews to monitor their personal and professional growth all with the approach of helping you develop work habits that will stay with you throughout your career.
Diverse Caseloads
Gain invaluable experience at a VECCS-certified Level I and AAHA-certified 24-hour emergency and critical care facility that has one of the highest ER caseloads in the country. As a nonprofit hospital with a dedicated ICU and robust ER service, residents will benefit from hands-on training with a diverse array of cases involving dogs, cats, wildlife, and exotics.
