Jordan McKinney

Committed to Pets and People in Crisis

Jordan McKinney has had an interest in emergency medicine since an injury to her own pet led to a job as a technician in a busy ER hospital. She has been a veterinarian at DoveLewis since 2014. She was drawn to DoveLewis because of its commitment to giving back to the community while practicing top-notch emergency and critical care. Working at DoveLewis, she has discovered the joy of being part of a family of amazing technicians and brilliant DVMs, all of whom are committed to quality and compassionate care. She is drawn to working with people and pets in crisis situations and strives to develop a bond with pet owners to help them to understand their animal’s condition and make informed and loving choices about their care. Dr. McKinney is a strong advocate for the patient, believing that animals deserve a representative who can champion their needs. Most of all, she loves spending time with animals: cuddling the affectionate, calming the anxious (she is known on the floor as “the chihuahua whisperer”), and soothing the distressed.

When not working, Jordan loves doing anything outdoors: long, rugged backpacking trips; mountain biking; trail running; and taking her four dogs places they can be wild and free. When stuck at inside and at home, she enjoys yoga, playing the guitar, and reading.
