Joshua Cruz

Joshua Cruz first came to DoveLewis as a veterinary intern in 2006. It wasn't long before he joined our staff as a full-time staff veterinarian in 2009.  Dr. Cruz has a special passion for educating people from all backgrounds about animal medicine, care and welfare. He especially enjoys sharing knowledge with the veterinary community through atdove.org, DoveLewis' online veterinary training program. 

His favorite cases involve owners who bring patients to the ER with little hope and a bleak diagnosis, but are able to witness their beloved pet recover with time, expert care and compassion from our hospital staff. "In the best cases, they leave the hospital as if nothing happened. It never ceases to amaze me how resilient the natural world can be!"
 

Loving a pesky pup

"My first pet was a Siberian husky named Thunder who could dig under any fence and climb over any wall. He was a great dog, but always escaping, which is partly why my next pet was a turtle."
