Sophie Petersen

Dr. Sophie Petersen paired her life-long passion of science and animals into an impressive academic and professional career. After receiving her BA in biology from Reed College in Portland in 1993, she went on to earn a PhD in neuroscience at UC Berkeley and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis.

Switching to the East coast Dr. Petersen completed a Small Animal Rotation Internship at North Carolina State University in 2008, then returned to her alma mater, UC Davis, for a neurology/neurosurgery residency.

After working as a clinical assistant professor, at the University of Wisconsin she returned to the Pacific Northwest and began her career as an associate neurologist in 2010.  She has made a meaningful impact on the local patient community and veterinary referral community and is eager to continue her work at DoveLewis.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Petersen enjoys playing music, baking cakes and hiking in the Pacific Northwest with friends and dogs.
